Hard chrome plating has a hard film and is extremely slippery. It also has excellent wear resistance and corrosion resistance. Due to its bluish luster, it is also used for exterior purposes.

Features
Features 1High hardness, excellent wear resistance
Hard chrome plating has a hardness of Hv800-1000, which is extremely high relative to other plating methods, and has excellent wear resistance.
It is also widely used in mechanical parts due to its slidability.
However, its hardness tends to decrease when heated. Especially from around 400℃, it decreases drastically, so care must be taken when heated.
Excellent corrosion resistance and chemical resistance
Because it forms an instant oxide film on the surface of chromium, it has a higher electrical potential than copper and exhibits excellent corrosion resistance.
Although it is not resistant to chlorides, it does not easily react with other acids and has excellent chemical resistance.
The base metal may corrode from cracks occurring in the film, but corrosion can be mitigated by making the cracks smaller and finer.
Corrosion resistance can be improved by plating the base.
It has excellent mold releasability and can be used for thick plating.
Hard chrome plating is used for various molds because of its great mold releasability.
Thickening of plating is also possible, up to about 100μm.
However, since the plating thickness tends to vary due to the distribution of current, a special jig is made for products with special shapes.
